Title: Accountant Contractor (CPA)

Monthly Pay: $3,000 - $5,000

Status:  Full-time

Supervisor: COO 

Company: I’RAISE Girls & Boys Int. Corp., 501c3 non-profit 

Hire Date: Hiring immediately - start date of Thursday, August 31st, 2024

Work Location: Able to commute any borough in New York City


I’RAISE is seeking an experienced accountant to conduct an independent review of our financial records. This is a time-sensitive project that must be completed within one week, in accordance with New York City Government regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial records.


Responsibilities:

  • Non profit experiences required**

  • Experience with 990s required**

  • Experience with Char500 filings required**

  • Conduct a review of the organization's financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

  • Examine all financial records to ensure they are accurate and comply with accounting standards and regulations

  • Verify all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements with accounting records

  • Identify any discrepancies or errors and investigate their causes

  • Prepare a report detailing the findings of the review, including any recommendations for improvements or corrective actions

  • Communicate the results of the review to the organization's leadership and board of directors

  • Provide guidance on financial best practices and help the organization develop internal controls to prevent fraud or errors

  • Since this is a one-week long project, the accountant may be expected to work quickly and efficiently, and prioritize their workload accordingly. They should also be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, and be able to meet tight deadlines.

  • In addition to these responsibilities, the accountant may also be called upon to provide general accounting support to the organization, such as preparing financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and processing financial transactions. They may also provide guidance on budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities.


Requirements:

  • CPA Highly Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or auditing

  • Non profit experiences required**

  • Experience with 990s required**

  • Experience with Char500 filings required**

  • Knowledge of New York City Government regulations

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
