After-school Teacher Assistant Needed

Become a Teaching Assistant for our K-5 Afterschool Program!

Great opportunity for someone looking to share their knowledge and talents with young children within a school setting. Teaching Assistants are needed to assist afterschool Group Leaders in teaching educational lessons and engaging in fun activities. If you enjoy the darndest things kids say, you will love the children in our K-5 afterschool program.

Here are some expectations for this role:
  • Help conduct wellness checks and record attendance for students upon arrival to the program
  • Aid children as they work on homework assignments and projects in various academic subjects
  • Assist in crafting lesson plans in your area of expertise
  • Help reinforce the classroom rules to maintain a safe and caring environment for all students
  • Note observations around students' academic and social-emotional performance
  • Assist with distribution of snacks and beverages
  • Ensure the classrooms are left neat and tidy at the end of the day
  • Assist Group Leaders in transitioning students to the auditorium at dismissal time
  • Maintain professional relationships with program staff and school partners
Hours and commitments:
Onsite Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm
Online Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Looking for individuals that can volunteer 8-10 hours per week
Please Note: Background checks are required for all volunteers in this position. COVID vaccinations are required for all in-person volunteers at the school site.

Career Instructors Needed!

Are you a professional interested in imparting your wisdom to teens? Would you like to empower our youth and inspire them to enter your field?
Our new initiative, Generation Z, is a program designed to empower under-resourced high school students to unlock their potential while giving them access to new careers. We are looking for enthusiastic and skilled volunteers to provide introductory courses and training to our high school students (Grade 10 - 12). 

Commitment: 8 - 10 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months

Coaches Needed!

Commitment: Minimum of 4 hours monthly and a total of 12 hours during this program for 3 months

  • Provide one-on-one virtual coaching to paired girl/s.

  • Collaborate with mentees' parent/guardian to ensure successful outcomes

Parent Education Instructor

The Parenting Education Instructor leads a class for parents, increasing parent knowledge of child development, improving parenting skills and support systems, and providing community resources to help parents strengthen parent-child relationships.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Child Development, Human Development, Family Studies, Counseling, Education, or related field. Applicants who have not achieved this level of education may be considered if they have considerable documented experience and competency in the above-mentioned fields.
  • Experience teaching adults is required.
  • Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Good hearing and well-developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and parents
Essential Duties:
  • Learning philosophy and goals for the program.
  • Preparing for program class content and physical set-up in a timely manner.
  • Keeping appropriate paperwork including attendance records and evaluation forms.
  • Maintaining primary responsibility for the confidentiality of participants.
  • ​Communicating with preventive services and I’RAISE Community Department and collaborating agencies

Mentors & Tutors Needed!

Increase self-esteem and self-image by providing guidance and resources to kids and teens. You'll help youth maximize and reach their highest potential and experience success in all areas of their life.

We need tutors to work with youth in all grade levels, predominantly grade 3 and up. If you can speak Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, or Yoruba to help communicate with our families, that's great! But it's not required. Subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, ELA
