Event Volunteer (New York City)

CHRISTMAS TOY AND COAT GIVEAWAY EVENT - New York City

Saturday, December 16th, 2023

Event Support Volunteer (1-day)​

  • Wrapping toys and coats, organizing toys and coats, decorating, creating holiday festivities for

  • children and families, and serving food

  • Setting up tables, chairs, and decorations, and putting it away at the end of the event

  • Checking-in families

  • Giving toys and coats to families and children

  • Doing fun activities with families and children at the Arts and Crafts Stations

  • Keeping families company by connecting with them, chatting with them, asking them how their

  • day is going, and allowing them to feel belonged and to feel loved.

  • Taking pictures for families - let's see some smiling faces!

  • Help us clean up a bit after the event ends (if you don't mind)

  • No prior experiences needed!

Volunteer Hours: 9 am to 5 pm ET

Date: Saturday, December 16th, 2023

Tutor, Mentor, Coach Volunteer (virtual)

TUTOR - Virtual Volunteer

Provide academic support in a specific subject or multiple subjects. Help students develop study skills, time management, and organization strategies. Create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. Communicate regularly with students and their families to provide updates on progress and discuss any concerns. Collaborate with other tutors and program coordinators to ensure a cohesive program experience

Hours: 2 hours per week 

MENTOR - Virtual Volunteer

Build a positive and supportive relationship with a mentee. Provide guidance and support in areas such as career development, goal setting, and life skills. Help mentees develop self-esteem, self-confidence, and a positive self-image. Communicate regularly with mentees through virtual platforms such as email, video calls, and messaging apps. Attend virtual mentorship training sessions and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities

Hours: 2 hours per week 

COACH - Virtual Volunteer

Build a positive and supportive relationship with a young Black girl. Provide guidance and support in areas such as goal setting, self-esteem building, and skill development. Help the young Black girl develop a growth mindset and overcome obstacles. Communicate regularly with the young Black girl through virtual platforms such as email, video calls, and messaging apps. Attend virtual coaching training sessions and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities. Must have experience working with young people, particularly young Black girls

Hours: 2 hours per week

Mentor and Non-Profit Volunteer (in person)

MENTOR - In-Person Volunteer at Atlanta, Georgia

Schedule one-on-one mentoring sessions, and conduct one-on-one mentoring session with assigned youth. Assist mentee with goal planning and implementation of goals. Develop positive relationships with program participants through regular interaction and guidance. Assist program participants with homework, test preparation, and other academic pursuits. Provide career guidance and mentorship to program participants. Participate in program planning and development activities. Support program staff in creating and facilitating activities and events. Attend volunteer meetings and training sessions as required. Follow organization policies and procedures

Hours: 6 hours per month

Location: South Cobbs County Library - Cobb County, Georgia

NON-PROFIT VOLUNTEER - In-Person at Atlanta, Georgia

Work with the CEO to develop outreach plans and strategies. Attend local community and school board meetings to build relationships and assess community needs. Conduct door-knocking and other outreach activities to engage community members. Work collaboratively with other volunteers to build key relationships with community partners, leaders, and members. Participate in community events and activities to promote the organization and its programs. Attend regular meetings with the CEO and other volunteers to provide updates and receive feedback. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and community feedback

Hours: 10 - 15 hours per week, Flexible

Anyone!  

Is there a limit on how many positions I can apply for?
We suggest that you only apply to 1 position most closely aligned to your experience and goals.

 
What is the time and commitment? 
At least 2 - 3 hours per week, for 6 months. However, please review our postings carefully if there are any specific requirements.

Can I work remotely as a volunteer?Yes. At this time most of our volunteer programs are virtual. However, please review our postings.

Is the volunteer program paid? 
We currently provide unpaid volunteer program.

When will you begin accepting applications for the Internship Program?
The application period typically remains open. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We recommend that you review the volunteer postings.

Do you sponsor visas?

I'RAISE is not able to sponsor any type of visa.
