Nakia Marshall is a visionary nonprofit executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across the human services sector. Known for guiding organizations through transformation, Nakia has strengthened programs, stabilized operations, and advanced mission-driven impact for communities across New York and beyond.
Most recently, she served in senior leadership roles at the Puerto Rican Action Board, including Interim CEO and Chief Program Officer. There, she oversaw multimillion-dollar budgets, built strategic community partnerships, and secured major funding—such as a $400K Department of Justice grant to expand culturally responsive mental health services. Her leadership has consistently produced measurable outcomes, including improving staff retention by 25%, reducing operating costs by 15%, and achieving perfect audit scores across multiple organizations.
Nakia’s expertise spans program design, quality assurance, fiscal management, regulatory compliance, and organizational capacity building. She has directed residential services for Eden II Programs, and led therapeutic foster care and child welfare programs at the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services, Cayuga Centers, and the NYC Administration for Children’s Services. Earlier in her career, she strengthened accountability and performance systems as Director of Quality Improvement at Inwood House/Children’s Village.
She holds a Master of Public Administration, a Post-Master’s Certificate in Executive Nonprofit Leadership from NYU, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. Throughout her career, Nakia has remained deeply committed to equity, organizational excellence, and improving the lives of children, families, and communities.
