Internship Overview:
The Traveling Mental Health Aide Intern plays a vital role in supporting youth and families through interactive workshops, wellness events, and on-site mental health outreach. This internship offers hands-on experience in community mental health programming, youth engagement, and event-based support.
Ideal candidates are compassionate, adaptable, and comfortable working directly with youth populations in both school and community settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel with the I’RAISE team to community events, school programs, and youth workshops.
Assist in delivering group activities focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, self-esteem, and healthy relationships.
Help prepare workshop materials (handouts, visuals, and wellness toolkits).
Support youth in processing feelings and participating safely and respectfully.
Observe and document group participation for post-event reports.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines at all times.
Represent I’RAISE with warmth and professionalism at all community-facing events.
Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Culturally sensitive and committed to youth empowerment.
Ability to travel locally (and occasionally regionally) with staff.
Must complete required I’RAISE trainings on confidentiality, ethics, and youth engagement.
Learning Outcomes:
Gain field experience in youth mental health and community outreach.
Build confidence in facilitating and co-leading wellness sessions.
Learn event planning and teamwork in real-world nonprofit environments.
Develop professional and interpersonal skills for future counseling or education roles.
Compensation:
Unpaid (academic credit or field hours available)
All travel expenses covered by I’RAISE
