Alyssa C. Abernathy was born in Queens, New York, and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. Alyssa values family above everything else; she is a daughter, sister, and mother. Alyssa completed her Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from The College of New Rochelle School of New Resources, where she undertook relevant coursework in sociology, psychology, compulsion and addiction, and developmental psychology. 


Alyssa pursued a Master's degree in Social Work from Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus) and has worked in the non-profit sector since then. She provides counseling services, support, resources, information, and linkages to services for various populations in need. Additionally, she has served as a youth leader and chaplain in various capacities within the faith-based community.


Alyssa founded the non-profit organization, Life Equip Group Inc., in 2019. Her personal experiences inspired the creation of LEG and its programs. The organization's mission is to empower adolescents and young adults in disadvantaged communities through educational, professional, and personal development. Currently, Alyssa serves as a community service co-chair for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Eta Nu Sigma Chapter, where she is an active member. Alyssa is a licensed social worker and a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor (Traine). In 2024, she founded her own practice, Pathway Partners Solutions LLC, which aims to provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic services, coaching, and support to individuals using a holistic approach. Alyssa has been recognized and honored for her outstanding service and volunteer work, utilizing her education and professional skills. She has received two citations from the Brooklyn Borough President and the Congressional Award. She was also awarded for Excellence in Field Work from Long Island University. 


Alyssa's objective is to encourage independence, individuality, and success that is defined by no one else but the person working towards.
