Volunteer Title: Youth Life Coach Volunteer

Program: See Her Be Her Coaching Program, coaching young black girls

Location: Either NYC or Atlanta, Georgia

Hours: 1 to 1.5 hours per week for Mentor : Mentee session

Commitment: 3 months

At I'RAISE, we have an exciting Youth Life Coach Volunteer opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young black girls by being part of our See Her Be Her Coaching Program by fostering mentorship, guidance, and empowerment.

Make a significant difference in shaping the future of these young girls in our See Her Be Her Coaching Program. We believe that representation matters, and by becoming a Youth Life Coach, the volunteers will contribute to breaking down barriers and inspiring the next generation of black female leaders.

Youth Life Coach Responsibilities:

1. Collaborating with the mentee's parent/guardian to ensure successful outcomes.

2. Addressing intergenerational trauma, low self-esteem, and identity issues.

3. Encouraging our girls to recognize their strengths and skills and utilize them.

4. Promoting positive self-esteem, self-confidence, and skills.

5. Encouraging our girls to take a deeper look into the stereotypes they have faced or will face and how to overcome them.

6. Cultivating an image of what it means to be a Black girl/woman for them.

7. Teaching etiquette and black excellence.

8. Providing individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities and workshops.

Youth Life Coach Qualifications:

1. Black Female Volunteer. Our See Her Be Her Program is geared towards young black girls. Studies have shown that when students and children see a mentor or coach who look like them, there is a stronger or closer bond

2. Must be 21+ years old and no prior experience is required

3. Commit to at least one coach to mentee session per week, as little as one and a half hour a week and 6 months commitment

4. Flexible weekday volunteer times

5. Complete the required virtual coach orientation and have access to a computer and reliable wifi for online mentoring

6. Agree to the terms of our Coach code of conduct
