YOUTH MENTOR VOLUNTEER

Volunteer Title: Youth Mentor

Location: Either NYC or Atlanta, Georgia

Hours: 1 to 1.5 hours per week for Mentor : Mentee session

Commitment: 6 months


Welcome to I'RAISE Community Service Volunteer Opportunity!


As a Youth Mentor Volunteer, you will provide guidance, support, and encouragement to young people to help them navigate various aspects of their lives and achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals. You will play a crucial role in building positive relationships with your mentees and serve as role models, offering advice, sharing experiences, and imparting valuable life skills.


 

Youth Mentor Responsibilities:

  1. Building rapport and establishing trust with the mentee.

  2. Providing emotional support and a listening ear for the mentee's concerns and challenges.

  3. Offering guidance and advice on topics such as education, career choices, personal development, and relationships.

  4. Setting goals and helping the mentee develop strategies to achieve them.

  5. Encouraging positive behaviors and decision-making.

  6. Providing constructive feedback and encouragement to boost the mentee's confidence and motivation.

  7. Serving as a source of inspiration and motivation for the mentee to reach their full potential.

  8. Acting as an advocate for the mentee and helping them access resources and opportunities in their community.

  9. Serving as a positive role model by demonstrating integrity, resilience, and empathy.

  10. Establishing boundaries and maintaining confidentiality in the mentor-mentee relationship.


Youth Mentor Qualifications:

  1. Must be located in either New York City or Atlanta, Georgia

  2. Must be 21+ years old

  3. Must have prior youth mentoring experience - working with youth facing various challenges such as academic struggles, peer pressure, or socio-economic barriers

  4. Commit to 1 to 1.5 hours per week for a mentor : mentee session

  5. Complete the required virtual mentor orientation

  6. Agree to the terms of our Mentor code of conduct

  7. Complete background check / fingerprint clearance (Cost is not covered by I'RAISE)
